Project Chromology by MSO: A Chromatic Interpretation of the 750S

NAT BOWEN

OVERVIEW

Project Chromology by MSO is a collection of bespoke 750S commissions created in collaboration with British abstract resin artist Nat Bowen.

Developed exclusively by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the collaboration features the debut of Chromatic Layered Finish. A new multi-layered paint technique inspired by the depth, translucency, and tactile dimensionality of Nat Bowen’s resin artworks. Each 750S surface becomes a fluid canvas of shifting light, refined through MSO’s precision craftsmanship to reveal color as an immersive, dynamic experience.

The collection shares the same design ethos across each 750S; however, each is entirely unique, defined by a number of bespoke color palettes built to evoke a distinct emotional profile. Through this fusion of artistry and performance, McLaren and Nat Bowen redefine the possibilities of personalization.

MSO DESIGN

The Artist: Nat Bowen. Color, Emotion, Expression

Nat Bowen’s practice centers on chromology, the study of how color shapes perception, mood, and identity. Her resin-based artworks are known for their layered luminosity and emotional resonance, inviting the viewer to experience color as both a visual and psychological landscape.

In this collaboration, her chromatic principles move beyond the studio and into the sculpted geometry of the 750S. Nat Bowen worked closely with the MSO team to translate her approach into a physical finish that carries depth, translucency, and movement across key surfaces on the 750S.

The result is an automotive expression of her artistic philosophy: color not as decoration, but as a powerful, personal language. Through Nat Bowen’s influence, each 750S becomes a distinct emotional statement shaped through light, materiality, and the shifting interplay of layered hues.

MSO Chromatic Layered Finish. A New Dimension of Bespoke Paint

Created specifically for this collaboration, MSO’s Chromatic Layered Finish marks a significant step forward in bespoke car paint innovation. Multiple translucent coats build color gradually, allowing light to interact with the surface in a way that reveals subtle variations in tone, depth, and character.

For the first time, MSO introduces raised texturing within the paint itself. A tactile, dimensional effect inspired by the layered movement of Nat Bowen’s resin artworks. This detail can be both seen and felt, giving the finish a sculptural quality that amplifies the emotional presence of each palette.

The technique is applied meticulously across the surfaces of the 750S, ensuring that every angle captures the interplay of color and light. The result is a finish that feels alive in motion, transforming the supercar into a kinetic expression of personal identity.

THE DETAILS

Bespoke Palettes With Emotional Profiles. Color as Personal Identity

Every 750S in the series receives a unique MSO palette created through a controlled layering process that defines its emotional profile. Nat Bowen’s chromatic themes, from calming, meditative tones to bold, high-energy hues, are reinterpreted into vibrant, light-reactive finishes that shift in intensity depending on viewpoint and environment.

This approach reflects MSO’s belief that bespoke design can be a powerful tool for personal expression. Each palette becomes a narrative, shaped not only by visual aesthetics but by the emotional resonance that color carries for its owner.

The palette’s central tone extends into the details of the car, ensuring that its identity is expressed in every element of the design.

24-Carat Gold Plated Badging. Exclusivity in Every Detail

For the first time on a 750S, MSO introduces hallmarked 24-carat gold plated badging, featured on the front, sides, and rear of each commission. Exclusive to this collaboration, the front badge is backed with a color precisely matching the central hue of the car’s palette. This refinement underscores the bespoke nature of each car, where every detail down to the smallest accent is treated as an extension of its chromatic identity.

An Artwork for Every Owner. A Physical Reflection Beyond the Car

Each commission is accompanied by an original artwork created by Nat Bowen, providing owners with a physical counterpart to their vehicle’s palette. The artwork serves as a personal interpretation of the chromatic theme, extending the emotional and artistic narrative beyond the car itself.
