Our Story

Today, McLaren Automotive is known across the globe for delivering awe-inspiring, innovative products and services that challenge convention and transform driving experiences. But our story begins all the way back in the 1950s when Bruce McLaren launched his racing career in a car that he’d ingeniously modified.

By 1966, Bruce had developed – and would go on to drive – his own Formula 1™ car. It placed 10th at its Monaco debut with Bruce at the wheel. Ever since, records have tumbled and we’ve worked with some of motorsport’s true greats. Our 60 years of racing success (and counting) has paved the way for McLaren Automotive to create some of the most iconic and exhilarating road cars the world has ever seen.
