750S - FIVE KEY FACTS

Lighter, faster, sharper – the new McLaren 750S fuses visceral Longtail thrills with everyday usability and comfort.

McLaren hasn't just raised the bar with the new 750S, it's changed the game. Replacing the already exceptional 720S, McLaren's most powerful series-production supercar is lighter, faster and sharper. The revised chassis heightens driver engagement, the twin-turbocharged V8 is even more potent, and reduced weight concentrates performance. The engineers behind the 750S left no stone unturned in creating a new supercar benchmark. The team made hundreds of changes and revisions – some are tiny details, some represent major upgrades. Here, we highlight the headline facts and figures that make the 750S so special.

#1 – THE LIGHTEST EVER

The 750S is McLaren's lightest series-production supercar, weighing just 1389kg. That represents a 30kg saving compared to its featherweight 720S predecessor, and makes the 750S some 193kg lighter than its closest rival. Carbon-shelled racing seats save 17.5kg, new 10-spoke ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels another 13.8kg, while even a new driver instrument display (-1.8kg) and thinner windscreen glass (-1.6kg) contribute. With less weight to accelerate and stop, the 750S goes harder, stops faster and corners even more sharply.

#2 – NEW EXHAUST, NEW SOUND

McLaren's 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 now has a richer, more intense voice thanks to a new exhaust system that exits between the taillights. Inspired by the McLaren P1™ hybrid hypercar with its distinctive elliptical outlet, fabricated from stainless-steel and a little shorter than the previous 720S exhaust, the new central-exit system is also some 2.2kg lighter than before.

#3 – LT ENGAGEMENT, EVERYDAY COMFORT

More engagement than the previous 720S, more comfort than the hardcore 765LT, the 750S's revised chassis has stretched the performance envelope to give the best of both worlds. The latest generation of McLaren’s linked-hydraulic suspension – PCC III – is key, with other highlights including new lightweight dampers and springs (softer at the front, stiffer at the rear), revised suspension geometry and a 6mm wider track.

#4 – NEW DRIVER-FOCUSED INTERIOR

The 750S is even more driver-focused than the previous 720S thanks to a new instrument display that moves with the steering column and remains perfectly in the driver's line of sight. Inspired by the Elva, the controls for Powertrain and Chassis modes are now located either side of the display too, so you can switch preferences without letting go of the steering wheel. Even more convenient, the McLaren Control Launcher (MCL) button makes its debut – you can now store your favourite dynamic settings, then activate them instantly with a single push.

#5 – MORE POWER, MORE FUN

McLaren’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine was already exceptional and now the 750S goes to the next level. Increased boost pressure, an extra ‘on-demand’ fuel pump and a little Longtail magic courtesy of lightweight 765LT pistons help increase performance to 750PS, while shorter gearing amplifies the effect for breathtaking acceleration.

Add everything together and the 750S can demolish the 0-62mph sprint in 2.8 seconds, crack 0-124mph in 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 206mph – ferocious hypercar performance in a series-production supercar you can use every day.
