MCL-HY GTR

McLaren’s FIA WEC Hypercar. Engineered for clients.

ENDURING LEGACY

Introducing McLaren’s client track variant of the Hypercar that’s set to compete in the 2027 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The MCL-HY GTR.

The true spiritual successor to the F1 GTR, this is a manifestation of Bruce McLaren’s dream: a lasting legacy of success in endurance racing. Ownership means being part of that vision as clients embark on a two-year inclusive track programme with unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to our journey to WEC. This is a once-in-a-generation ownership experience, with a machine set to challenge in the golden era of sports car racing.

FIRST OF ITS KIND

With ambitions to reclaim the Triple Crown in the papaya era, the MCL-HY GTR marks a first-of-its-kind collaboration between McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive. And the significance goes even further. For the first time since the 1995 Le Mans-winning F1 GTR, it’s possible to own a variant of the car in which McLaren will compete for outright victory in the WEC and the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The MCL-HY GTR is shaped by our automotive and racing DNA. The distinctive 'performance line' and front architecture nod to the F1, while the muscular front and rear fenders draw inspiration from the M6A to M8D — Bruce McLaren's ultra-successful Can-Am sportscars. A rear fender design that echoes the W1 and a bespoke wheel unique to the MCL-HY complete a car in which every detail serves a purpose and every element is distinctly McLaren.

A Word from McLaren

"McLaren Racing now has three race cars ready to contest the biggest motorsport series in the world; Formula 1, INDYCAR and WEC. This means McLaren, its partners, customers and fans can challenge for the Triple Crown of Monaco GP, INDY500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans together – a unique cross-series story that sets us apart."

PERFORMANCE

The majority of the client track variant replicates the car that’ll race in the 2027 WEC season. With the same bespoke, race-built 2.9L V6 Twin turbo engine, Xtrac 7-speed sequential gearbox and carbon/carbon disk brakes as the race car, this is a machine born for the track that can live in the home or collection.

For the track car variant, the racing hybrid system is removed, with circa 730PS generated from the ICE—exceeding the regulated 707PS in WEC. It’s a Hypercar built for maximum performance and exhilaration, with features to enhance drivability: ABS in place of a more complex brake-by-wire system, traction control, and multiple engine maps to tailor power delivery.

The MCL-HY GTR is designed to promote safety and reduce driving complexity while remaining thrilling to drive. It can also be operated by a smaller crew, giving clients the flexibility to run it globally beyond the official track programme.
