In the year that we celebrate McLaren’s 60th anniversary, Auckland University has awarded our founder, Bruce McLaren, an honorary degree for his contributions to engineering at a ceremony held at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, England.

The 2010s brought another new era at McLaren, with the launch of McLaren Automotive. McLaren had made road-going supercars before, but the new division was created to build what would soon become a family of models, from the original MP4-12C to some of the most extreme hypercars ever created.

Hard to believe now, but in the 1990s McLaren's home was still a small industrial park on the outskirts of Woking near London, with the company occupying 18 different sites across the town. However, Team Principal Ron Dennis had ambitions to give McLaren a new global HQ that was equal to its successes on road and track.
