McLaren Takata Recall

McLaren takes all safety recalls very seriously.

The safety of McLaren's customers is of paramount importance, and in accordance with the requirements under the Consumer Goods (Motor Vehicles With Affected Takata Airbag Inflators and Specified Spare Parts) Recall Notice 2018, McLaren will be replacing all passenger-side airbags manufactured by the company Takata fitted to McLaren vehicles Model Years 2012 to 2018 sold into Australia.

Please note that:

  • no driver side airbags in McLaren vehicles are affected by the Recall;

  • no McLaren vehicles are fitted with an Alpha Inflator; and

  • any replacement airbag previously installed in your vehicle following a collision or other incident may also be faulty.

We will notify you in writing by letter or email, or you will receive an SMS or phone call if your vehicle is affected.

Safety Risk

A faulty airbag could kill or seriously injure you and other people in your vehicle.

As affected vehicles get older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can affect airbags with the fault. If you are involved in a collision, the airbag can go off with too much explosive force causing sharp metal fragments to strike a passenger in the vehicle potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

Recall and Replacement Process

McLaren will replace your airbag for FREE.
