McLaren 750s Reviews

Under the Skin

UNDER THE SKIN

Our relentless search to save weight is central to the McLaren ethos. The 750S Spider is true to this approach. And goes further still. McLaren 750S Spider is 30 kg lighter than before – thanks to specification refinements, material upgrades and CAE analysis.

McLaren 750S Spider weighs just 1438kg. And takes driving dynamics, responses and performance to new heights.

Engagement

PURER ENGAGEMENT

The 750S Spider takes the mind-bending performance, telepathic handling and lightning responses of the McLaren 720S Spider further. Towards the point where car and driver work as one. From flat-out circuits. To sinuous A-roads. The McLaren ethos drives a constant search for more performance. Less weight. And perfectly judged balance. The objective is deceptively simple in its ambition: class-leading, addictive engagement.

30HP more power, 30Nm more torque and 30kg less overall weight play their part. As does the 6mm front wider track, twin valve dampers, quicker steering rack and 15% shorter final drive. But electrifying the drive above all is the sensory rush of the elements. As the unique voice of the enhanced V8 – channelled by the new Standard Sports Exhaust – combine to deliver a vividly unfiltered open-air experience. A new benchmark in convertible supercar engagement.

Power

Torrential power

At the heart of the 750S Spider is a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Mid mounted for perfect weight distribution. Iconic McLaren engineering and architecture. Enhanced with new components and bespoke calibration. This powerhouse generates 750PS and 800Nm of torque. Evolutionary progress you can feel.

Power

Evolutionary shift

But the engine is just the beginning. The 750S Spider’s gearshift and gearbox hardware have also been uprated. Delivering a 15% shorter final drive ratio and recalibrated shifting. So in-gear acceleration is 10% quicker. Drama and performance are also intensified with Ignition Cut gearshifts and rev-limit downshifts.

Dynamic development

To harness its extra power and performance, the 750S Spider has a 6mm front wider track, new springs and bespoke twin valve dampers (with both passive and active elements), a quicker steering ratio and new unique Power Assisted Steering pump. A host of engineering advancements… all to deliver breath-taking body control. And remarkable ride comfort. With zero compromise.

Air power

The 750S Spider’s forms and surfaces are refined to deliver a new level of aerodynamic efficiency. There’s a new front bumper and front splitter. Narrowed ‘eye sockets’. Reprofiled side air intakes. And a rear wing with 20% more surface area. Together, they deliver finer balance, extra grip – and a 5% increase in downforce.

Performance Evolved

Incredible, enhanced power. Stirring, original voice. The all-new central-exit Standard Sports Exhaust has been acoustically tuned to create a 750S Spider soundtrack that’s all its own.

Flawless precision. Peerless creativity. The Spectrum Theme by MSO has been developed exclusively for the new 750S Spider. The result is a truly singular aesthetic. That magnifies the dynamic character of the car’s design… to breathtaking effect.

MSO

SPECTRUM THEME

Every last refined and re-engineered element of the 750S Spider creates an open-air drive that feels alive with exhilaration. And with the Spectrum Theme, the car gains a stunning new energy – both inside and out – defined by the ultimate craftsmanship of MSO.

THE EXTERIOR: SUBTLY STUNNING

Pushing the boundaries of skill and paint technology, the Spectrum Theme features a graded, subtle tonal change. It flows across the door panels. And has a seamlessly smooth fade across the rear fender. The effect is thrilling, making the car look as though it’s accelerating. Even when perfectly still.

Spectrum is available in Grey, Blue and Orange variants. But they are simply your starting point. The Grey option flows from Spectrum Grey to Metallic Meteorite Grey. Blue grades from Spectrum Blue to Metallic Aurora Blue. While the Orange theme begins with Spectrum Orange and builds to a rich potent Gamma Red Metallic. Each features no less than seven paint tones. Most have been specially formulated for this incredible application.

Complementing the exterior shades are accent colours that add aesthetic balance and visual drama. Such as the beautiful detailing on the underside of the 750S Spider's Active Rear Wing.
