THE BRUCE McLAREN STORY

A MAVERICK BLUEPRINT

EPISODE 2: THE FIRST WIN

Bruce was in a hurry to get started. He learnt to take apart and rebuild gearboxes, and push engines to their limit. By the age of 14, he and his father had built his first race car.

At 16, he entered a hill climb in place of his father, on the beach at Muriwai, near Auckland, and won. This became a habit. At 22, he became the youngest Formula 1 Grand Prix winner of his time.

“Life is measured in achievements, not years alone.”

Bruce McLaren

BRUCE McLAREN'S LIFE WAS EXTRAORDINARY.

From growing up above his family’s Service Station in Auckland to overcoming a childhood illness, he developed a relentless mindset. He became the youngest Formula 1 Grand Prix winner of his time, proving progress comes from stepping up. More than a driver, he built a racing team grounded in collaboration and shared pursuit.

Bruce died aged 32, but his impact endures - measured not in years, but in what he built and set in motion for McLaren today.
