Over the past week McLaren customers have experienced unforgettable action in Singapore and Malaysia, at the Singapore Formula 1™ Grand Prix and the final Pure McLaren track day of the year at the Sepang International Circuit.

Singapore, the smallest country in South East Asia, has hosted Formula 1™ racing’s original night race since 2008. Staged in the heart of this vibrant, cosmopolitan city, the exciting 3.2-mile (5km) street circuit is floodlit, and the bright lights of Singapore’s neighbouring financial district create a unique backdrop for this atmospheric race.

The Singapore Grand Prix is arguably the toughest race on the Formula 1™ calendar; temperatures remain high well into the night, the humidity is stifling, and the tight and twisting track pushes both drivers and their machines to the limit.

McLaren customers however, stayed cool and calm throughout the race weekend. Staying in the elegant Fullerton Bay Hotel on the waterfront, guests started the weekend with an exclusive invitation to join former Formula 1™ World Champion Jenson Button for an afternoon of drinks and canapés. Then on Sunday morning, guests joined McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt for a champagne brunch in the historic East India Room of the iconic Raffles Hotel.

The views of the on-track action were unrivalled too, as the McLaren VIP Sky Suite hosted McLaren customers through Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from early afternoon until midnight each day (the night-race format meaning practice sessions and qualifying took place late into each evening, too). With champagne hospitality and exquisite food part of the five-star menu on offer, and stunning views of the action, an incredible weekend was had by all.

A short flight then took customers to Kuala Lumpur and the Sepang International Circuit, the home of the Malaysian Formula 1™ Grand Prix (which takes place on Sunday 2 October 2016).

Here the excitement continued with two days of track activity, and the unique opportunity to get behind the wheel of the McLaren Super Series and Sports Series models. Guests joined Pure McLaren for three days of Performance Academy training on 19 - 21 September, and experienced the unrivalled performance of the limited edition McLaren 675LT and the new McLaren 570S, while under the expert one-on-one guidance of driver coaches.

The Performance Academy allows guests to progress through three levels of intensive training in the Performance Academy curriculum, pushing them to their limits with cutting-edge data analysis tracking their progress every inch of the way. Customers at Sepang represented a mix of novices new to the programme and taking to the track for the first time, through to experienced McLaren customers continuing to improve their driving skills with the help of expert tuition.

Away from the track, the VIP guests stayed at the Club Saujana Resort, a unique luxury boutique hotel in Kuala Lumpur, and enjoyed a private welcome dinner with CEO Mike Flewitt and other visiting McLaren guests.

The visit to the Sepang International Circuit represents the final Pure McLaren trackday of 2016, but there are more McLaren events to come before the year concludes, including an epic driving tour across New Zealand from 26 November to 3 December, and the McLaren Winter Ball, taking place at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England.
