Spa-Francorchamps and Circuit of the Americas have played host to the first two Pure McLaren events of 2016 with guests enjoying track time with driving tuition as well as VIP hospitality.
Pure McLaren at Spa-Francorchamps
Guests traveled to Belgium from three different continents, bringing with them a myriad of McLarens including a number of recently delivered 675LTs. Having participated in a full track walk with Belgian racing legend Eric Van de Poele the previous afternoon, those taking part in our Performance Academy programme arrived prepared. After some sighting laps, allowing drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit before tackling its challenging curves including the infamous Eau Rouge, track time was underway.
The Performance Academy team provided one-to-one driving tuition out on track as well as then reviewing telemetry data and video footage back in the pits. McLaren P1™ GTR programme mentor Bruno Senna was on hand to advise guests and, if they were brave enough, take them out on a spirited passenger ride.
Also delighting the gathering of car enthusiasts at Spa was a special guest of the four wheeled variety, as the McLaren 570S GT4 took to the track to continue on its testing and development programme.
Following the track action was a dinner at the circuit hosted by McLaren Automotive CEO Mike Flewitt, allowing guests to relax and get to know one another and chat with Bruno and Eric about their Pure McLaren experience.
Pure McLaren at COTA
Just one week after the event in Belgium, the Pure McLaren team took the programme to Circuit of the Americas, Texas, the home of the US Formula 1™ Grand Prix. The challenging 3.41 mile long race track is situated just outside downtown Austin and takes advantage of the naturally undulating landscape with an intimidating hill at Turn 1 that must be seen in person to be believed.
A McLaren F1 joined contemporary McLaren models from the Sports Series, the Super Series and the Ultimate Series as the track opened for the two day event.
