McLaren’s 2016 Winter Ball goes stratospheric.
Fireworks exploding over the lake at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC), violins and pianos, dry ice and fairy lights, supercars and heroes, and hundreds of guests: it could only be the annual McLaren Winter Ball.
Many McLaren owners were among the 223 who gathered for the event, which this year was themed ‘out of this world’ to celebrate the company’s forward thinking and visionary approach.
Special guests included McLaren Executive Director Zak Brown and Formula 1™ team Racing Director Eric Boullier, legendary McLaren designers Gordon Murray and Gordon Coppuck, former racing drivers Mark Blundell and JJ Lehto and current McLaren GT driver Bruno Senna and test driver Kenny Brack.
Guests of honour included the Sports Series cars 570S and 570GT, which have significantly boosted McLaren’s production numbers in 2016.
Also making special appearances at the event were the cars – notably Bruce McLaren’s original M2B Monaco Grand Prix car, the brand new 570S GT4 racer and the P1™ GTR , looking cool in its evocative Harrods livery.
During dinner Gordon Murray and JJ Lehto talked entertainingly about their McLaren years, before Eric Boullier and Zak Brown looked forward to the 2017 Formula 1™ season.
Guests were wowed by music from virtuoso pianist Tokio Myers and electric violin duo the Stereo Twins, before the MTC boulevard was plunged into darkness so guests could enjoy the fantastic fireworks display across the lake.
Violinists the Stereo Twins and pianist Tokio Myers entertained guests. The food was out of this world too!
The MTC lake was illuminated by a magnificent fireworks display, celebrating the end of another successful year in McLaren’s history.
