McLAREN SPECIAL OPERATIONS TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE McLAREN P1™ AT GENEVA

A new stand in Geneva will showcase McLaren’s growing range – from an addition to the Sports Series family to the latest GT3 racer and two unique cars from McLaren Special Operations.

Once again, the forthcoming Geneva Motor Show promises to be a key event in McLaren’s year. This annual show, which in the past hosted the launch of the production version of the McLaren P1™ in 2013 and the unveiling of the 650S in 2014, will this year showcase a range of models on a new, bigger-than-ever McLaren stand.

McLaren Special Operations (MSO) will bring two cars: a full carbon McLaren P1™ to mark the recent completion of production, and a bespoke version of the 675LT Spider, a limited edition model which makes its debut at the show.

The McLaren P1™ by MSO is one of the 375 road legal versions produced, and it’s the first time the full visual carbon fibre body conversion has been shown after it was made available to customers of the Ultimate Series model earlier this year. In this particular example, the beautiful carbon construction is laid bare with a bespoke ‘Lio Blue’ tinted lacquer. Other MSO upgrades include gloss black wheels, an extensive retrim of the interior and a 24-carat gold exhaust heat shield, in a homage to the McLaren F1.

Alongside the P1™ will be the 675LT Spider. Limited to only 500 examples worldwide, the LT Spider sold out within weeks when it went on sale at the end of last year. Again, the example on show at Geneva is a one-off creation by MSO, finished in Ceramic Grey and with even greater levels of carbon fibre than the standard model. Again, this car’s engine bay is finished with a 24-carat gold heat shield around the titanium exhaust system.

Joining the MSO cars in Geneva will be the updated 650S GT3 racing car. Following a very strong 2015, when it won on all four continents on which it competed, the 650S GT3 looks set to build on the success at the 2016 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this month.

Finally, in what promises to be headline news at the show, McLaren will unveil a new, still-to-be-announced addition to the Sports Series family, to line up alongside the recently launched McLaren 570S. Altogether, it looks like another memorable year for McLaren at Geneva.

Visitors to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show will find McLaren on Stand 6040 in Hall 6. After two media days from 1st to 2nd March, the Show will be open to the public from March 3 to March 13.
