JOINED UP THINKING

McLaren Motorsport and McLaren Special Operations (MSO) have been brought together as the two departments combine under a new management structure.

Changes at McLaren Automotive have brought together two separate parts of the business under a single Managing Director. McLaren Motorsport and McLaren Special Operations (known as MSO) have been combined, and will be headed by Ansar Ali.

Ansar (pictured below) joined McLaren Automotive back in March 2016 as Motorsports Director, launching both the 570S GT4 and 570S Sprint Sports Series models with great success. In his new role as Managing Director of MSO, he will oversee all of McLaren Special Operations, from creating personalised cars for customers to running the McLaren P1™ GTR driver programme, and now overseeing the further expansion of the GT product portfolio and establishment of a dedicated network of motorsport retailers which will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

In a further change, Ansar will report into Jolyon Nash, Executive Director of Global Sales and Marketing. ‘The joining of McLaren Special Operations and Motorsport brings together the two areas of the company that design and deliver low-volume, highly bespoke offerings to their respective customers,’ Jolyon explained. ‘The integration of that new department into the Global Sales and Marketing function is a logical step, combining all of the revenue-generating areas of the business under one umbrella.’
